Electronic Ignition is now standard on almost all new vehicles. It offers better starting, improved fuel economy and lower emissions. Boyer Bransden have been manufacturing electronic ignition systems for over 20 years. These systems eliminate the use of points. A common problem on pre 1979 BMW`s is wear to the automatic advance retard mechanism cam that actuates the points. This causes incorrect retardation and timing. The Boyer Bransden units overcome this problem by dispensing with the mechanical advance/retard unit. The MK111 is a contactless ignition system utilizing an advanced and patented trigger switching system and featuring electronic advance and retard.
The more sophisticated Micro Digital ignition provides almost total control over ignition functions. By utilizing a built in microprocessor it controls advance and retard functions as well as coil energy, tickover timing stabilization and rev limits.
We do not recommend the Boyer Brandsen units to be fitted to machines with kick-starters because the machine can kick-back severely. This does not affect the use of the electric starter.
